When William J. Stanford co-founded Tilt Technology in October 2014, his goal was simple: to revive a service-driven approach where the company truly cares about its clients. “The bottom line is important, but what drives us is who we serve and how we choose to serve,” says William, Co-Founder & CEO. Drawing inspiration from his Christian faith, particularly Proverbs 2:6-9, he emphasized integrity and wisdom in every aspect of the business, from leadership to the products and services they provide.

Meeting the Needs of Independent Medical Providers

Tilt Technology was established to support independent medical providers and practices that were struggling to stay afloat in a rapidly changing market. Government regulations, corporate hospital buyouts, declining reimbursement rates, evolving technology, and increasing security threats all posed significant challenges for these providers. As a result, many were unable to focus on their core mission: patient care. “These providers need someone who cares about their work and can offer comprehensive solutions to remove barriers,” explains William. Tilt Technology strives to serve these practices, enabling them to focus on what matters most—patient care.

Tackling the Surge in Ransomware and Remote Work Challenges

The COVID-19 pandemic added new layers of complexity for businesses, especially in the realm of cybersecurity. With an increase in ransomware attacks, many companies were thrust into the unfamiliar world of remote work solutions, often neglecting critical security measures and backup strategies. “Our goal is to educate clients on their security and regulatory needs, ensuring they understand potential vulnerabilities, areas for improvement, and how our solutions protect their business,” says William.

A Virtual Model for National Reach and Seamless Support

From the outset, William’s vision was to create a fully virtual environment at Tilt Technology, eliminating the high overhead costs associated with physical office spaces. This model has allowed the company to tap into talent across the United States, providing national support while maintaining a remote workforce. “Our clients benefit directly from this model, as we can offer support across all U.S. time zones, expanding our hours of service,” William explains. The company uses Nextiva VOIP, Microsoft Teams, Harmony PSA, and Microsoft Office 365 to maintain continuous communication with both clients and employees, enhancing collaboration and day-to-day operations.

Navigating Legacy Systems and Transitioning to Secure, Scalable Solutions

As technology continues to evolve, many clients with legacy on-premises systems struggle to scale in response to growing demands. Tilt Technology has successfully migrated healthcare practices to fully virtual environments, providing the necessary connectivity, security, and scalability. William recalls a particular incident when a large client’s local network was infected with ransomware, causing server failures and hindering access to crucial patient data. Tilt, which had been providing the client with backup solutions, quickly migrated them to secure cloud hosting, allowing them to resume operations within hours—an operation that would have otherwise taken weeks to resolve.

Fostering a Culture of Service and Collaboration

For William, Tilt Technology’s greatest achievement is its ability to bring together a dynamic team from across the country. The team works collaboratively, always with a focus on serving clients and building lasting relationships. “In 2020, I learned to adjust my mindset, knowing when to call it a day and prioritize time for personal life,” says William. As the company looks ahead to 2021, they are focusing on a “back to basics” approach, reminding themselves of the core reason they started the business: to serve.
